CP-EDS Organoclay for Fine-Particle Rheology Control

An easy-dispersing, fine-particle organoclay grade for rheology and suspension in qualified medium- to high-polarity solvent systems.

CP-EDS fine-particle organoclay rheology additive
CP-EDS is a Camp-Shinning fine-particle organoclay rheology additive with published dispersion fineness of 10 μm or less. It is positioned for transparent coatings, selected ketone/ester or UV-related printing inks, and compatible adhesive or sealant systems where coarse particles, haze and unstable suspension are concerns. Formulators should select CP-EDS when particle fineness and medium- to high-polarity compatibility are central requirements. Easy dispersion does not mean universally activator-free, so the current TDS must control activation, order of addition and final dosage.

What is CP-EDS organoclay?

An easy-dispersing, fine-particle organoclay grade for rheology and suspension in qualified medium- to high-polarity solvent systems.

ProductBest forSystem typeActivation methodMain benefitLimitation
CP-EDSTransparent coatings, selected inks and sealantsMedium- to high-polarity solvent systemsEasy-dispersing; confirm activation in current TDS≤10 μm dispersion fineness and rheology controlNot automatically self-activating or suitable for every UV system

Which applications is CP-EDS suitable for?

Application boundary: Do not describe CP-EDS as universally self-activating or suitable for every transparent, UV or high-polarity formulation. Confirm solvent, resin, monomer, pigment and cure compatibility.

Adhesive/sealant reference0.5–2.0 wt%Application-level screening range

How should CP-EDS be dispersed?

Add CP-EDS before grinding when the current formulation and TDS support direct powder incorporation. Provide enough wetting and shear to reach the required fineness; do not infer activator-free processing from the term easy-dispersing.

  1. Charge the validated solvent and resin portion.
  2. Add CP-EDS under agitation before pigments when the formulation procedure calls for it.
  3. Apply high shear for at least the confirmed mixing time; an internal guide uses 2,000–3,000 rpm for 15–20 minutes as a laboratory reference.
  4. Verify fineness, haze, viscosity, suspension and storage stability before let-down or scale-up.

Frequently asked questions about CP-EDS

What is the published dispersion fineness of CP-EDS?
The current grade table lists dispersion fineness of 10 μm or less. Confirm the test method and current specification in the TDS.
Is CP-EDS suitable for transparent coatings?
It is positioned for transparent coatings where fine dispersion and rheology are required, subject to resin, solvent, haze and gloss testing.
Can CP-EDS be used in printing ink?
Yes, it can be screened in selected ketone/ester and UV-related inks. Press flow, cure, adhesion and storage compatibility must be verified.
Does easy-dispersing mean CP-EDS needs no activator?
No. Easy-dispersing describes processing behavior and should not be treated as a universal activator-free claim. Follow the current TDS.
What dosage should be used for CP-EDS?
Application tables provide screening references of 0.2–1.0% for transparent coatings, 0.3–0.8% for ketone/ester inks and 0.5–2.0% for adhesives or sealants. Final dosage is formulation-specific.
How should CP-EDS be selected against CP-MPZ?
Choose based on the actual polarity, ink or coating target, required fineness and activation route. CP-MPZ has an ink-focused page and separate process data.
