CP-MPZ Organoclay for Printing Ink

An ink-focused organophilic montmorillonite grade for thixotropic flow, viscosity control and pigment suspension in qualified solvent, mixed-polarity and selected UV acrylate systems.

CP-MPZ organoclay powder for printing ink
CP-MPZ is a Camp-Shinning organophilic montmorillonite rheology additive positioned for printing inks. It is evaluated where formulators need controlled body, pigment suspension, thixotropic flow and viscosity stability in medium- to high-polarity or mixed-solvent systems, including selected UV acrylate inks after compatibility testing. CP-MPZ can be added as powder under high shear, and the same-company source states that a polar activator is required for better performance. Ink manufacturers should determine the final level by press-relevant flow, fineness, cure, adhesion and storage testing.

What is CP-MPZ organoclay?

An ink-focused organophilic montmorillonite grade for thixotropic flow, viscosity control and pigment suspension in qualified solvent, mixed-polarity and selected UV acrylate systems.

Which applications is CP-MPZ suitable for?

Application boundary: This page does not establish CP-MPZ for water-based inks, food-contact use or every UV formulation. Cure, adhesion, gloss, color strength and storage stability must be checked in the actual ink.

How should CP-MPZ be dispersed in printing ink?

The dedicated product source supports direct powder addition under high shear and states that a polar activator is required for better performance. Use the current TDS to select the activator and exact sequence for the ink vehicle.

  1. Charge the validated solvent, resin, oil or monomer portion.
  2. Add CP-MPZ before grinding while maintaining agitation.
  3. Apply high shear for at least ten minutes or until the confirmed dispersion endpoint is reached.
  4. Add the approved polar activator at the validated stage and ratio.
  5. Complete pigment grinding and let-down, then test fineness, viscosity, thixotropy, print flow and storage.

How should CP-MPZ dosage be selected?

Use 0.1–1.0 wt% as the dedicated general formulation range and 0.3–1.0 wt% as the current application reference for selected UV acrylate inks. These are trial ranges, not a guarantee of press performance.

How does CP-MPZ compare with related CP grades?

Frequently asked questions about CP-MPZ

What is CP-MPZ organoclay used for?
CP-MPZ is used to control thixotropy, viscosity, pigment suspension and body in qualified printing-ink systems.
What is the general CP-MPZ addition range?
The dedicated product source gives 0.1–1.0 wt% of the total formulation as general guidance. Final dosage must be selected in the actual ink.
Can CP-MPZ be used in UV-curable ink?
Selected UV acrylate inks can be screened at the application reference of 0.3–1.0 wt%, followed by cure, adhesion, gloss and storage testing.
Does CP-MPZ require a polar activator?
The same-company source states that a polar activator is required for better performance. Use the current TDS to select the type, ratio and addition stage.
When should CP-MPZ be added?
The source supports direct powder addition under high shear, normally before grinding when the formulation procedure confirms that sequence.
Is CP-MPZ suitable for water-based ink?
Water-based suitability is not established by the current source. Use a water-compatible grade and application-specific data instead.
What tests should be run before scale-up?
Check fineness, low- and high-shear viscosity, thixotropic recovery, pigment settling, print flow, gloss, color strength, storage stability and, for UV systems, cure and adhesion.
How does CP-MPZ differ from CP-EDS?
CP-MPZ has an ink-focused positioning and its own activation and dosage guidance. CP-EDS is selected where fine-particle and medium/high-polarity requirements lead the decision.
